Structural Editor & Book Coach

Hello! I'm AJ.

(she/her)

My mission is to empower writers of speculative fiction to draft, revise, and publish their novels.

✓ I love working with anything weird, paranormal, dystopian, steampunk, solarpunk, futuristic, alternate history, sci-fi, or cli-fi!

✓ I also love horror, mystery, thrillers, romance, and 2SLGBTQ+ stories.

✓ If you need to nail down specifics on a medical scene, I can help you out with that too. I’ve worked in hospitals for over a decade in various roles.

Check out my coaching and editing packages for more information. While I'm a book coaching student with Author Accelerator, I'm offering my coaching packages at student rates until I'm fully certified. For quality coaching at a discounted price, book your free consultation today.

What is Book Coaching?

A book coach is a cheerleader who holds a safe space for your ideas as you develop them, a professional editor who provides feedback on your writing, and an accountability partner who provides deadlines to help you meet your goals.

As a book coach, I assist you to write the story that is in your heart into a cohesive manuscript whether your goal is to write because you can, to traditionally publish, to self-publish, or to achieve another goal entirely.

If you’ve ever felt paralyzed in procrastination, overwhelmed by the sheer scope of writing a novel, or become caught in an endless cycle of worldbuilding, I can help you find a way forward.

"I received a full beta read on my short non-fiction book, and was very pleased with all the advice she offered. Her suggestions helped me see where my book was lacking, which allowed me to expand on ideas, rewrite where necessary, and then reach a place where I felt my book was finally complete and ready for the world.

She has a kind and thoughtful approach, is very passionate about writing, which is obvious within her positive feedback and constructive criticisms, and she's just an overall pleasure to work with."

"I was fortunate enough to use AJ's services for my 75,000 word contemporary YA romance manuscript. She provided extremely detailed, valuable feedback with reference to similar books in my genre. She had a fast turnaround time and gave me a lot of encouragement. I really appreciated the time and effort she put into her review - including detailed comments at the end of each chapter. She also picked up on plot holes and inconsistencies that I missed during editing. I felt that I was able to better understand my own work through her assessment.

I would highly recommend AJ's services to anyone who wants specific, thoughtful, supportive, honest, and detailed feedback."

"Working with AJ was a great experience! I loved the thoroughness of the work as well as the notes I received afterwards about some of the ways our content was confusing. We were able to improve our content because of AJ's work. We, at Proofread Anywhere, are proud not only to call AJ a graduate of our program, but also to be a client and will be again in the future."
